We offer a range of SAW oscillators for designers requiring precise high frequency performance along with low jitter characteristicsWhat is a SAW oscillator?
A SAW oscillator is an oscillator that uses a surface acoustic wave (SAW) resonator to produce an electrical signal with a very precise frequency. SAW oscillators are used in many applications such as filters, oscillators and transformers. They are also used in high-speed serial communication. Epson’s SAW oscillator offers the high frequency performance and low jitter characteristics required by high-speed serial communication systems.
SAW Oscillators comprise an input transducer that converts an electric signal into acoustic waves and an output transducer that reconverts the waves into electrical signals. In between the input and output transducers, the waves travel through a solid propagation medium. This process gives SAW oscillators great flexibility to achieve a wide range of signal processing functions.
TXC’s SMD LVPECL SO BS Series of SAW based solutions are available for 3.3 Volt and 2.5 volts operation. They provide an LVPECL output with frequencies from 150MHz to 700MHz, and excellent low phase noise and jitter. Tristate function is available.
Applications include Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, Serial ATA, Serial attached SCSI, PCI-Express, and SDH/SONET.
