PCA9535HFHP is 16bit I²C-bus and SMBus, low power I/O port with interrupt. It is a CMOS device that provides 16bits of general purpose parallel input/output expansion for I²C-bus/SMBus applications and was developed to enhance the NXP Semiconductors family of I²C-bus I/O expanders. The improvements include higher drive capability, 5V I/O tolerance, lower supply current, individual I/O configuration, and smaller packaging. I/O expanders provide a simple solution when additional I/O is needed for ACPI power switches, sensors, push buttons, LEDs, fans, etc. It consists of two 8bit configuration (input or output selection), input, output and polarity inversion (active HIGH or active LOW operation) registers. The data for each input or output is kept in the corresponding input or output register. The polarity of the read register can be inverted with the Polarity Inversion register.

- ESD protection exceeds 2000V HBM per JESD22-A114, 200V MM per JESD22-A115, 1000V CDM per JESD22-C101
- Latch-up testing is done to JEDEC Standard JESD78 which exceeds 100mA
- Supply current is 135µA typ (Operating mode, VDD = 5.5V, no load, fSCL = 100KHz, I/O = inputs)
- Input capacitance is 6pF typ (VI = VSS, VDD = 2.3V to 5.5V, VSS = 0V, Tamb = -40 to +85°C)
- HWQFN24 package, ambient temperature range from -40 to +85°C
